Web & iOS app redesign
B to C mobile web and app UI
Work: UI/UX, Front-end
Role: Contract
Team: Design Manager, Mobile developers, Copy-writer, Marketing Manager
Viator is a travel company that posts editorial content as well as provide a platform for travel vendors to post their products. End user conversion and platform merchant sign-ups are the primary revenue drivers.
The Problem: Users thought Viator’s look was outdated, and the mobile site and native iOS app took too many clicks to book attractions or find information.
Mobile web redesign
Previous to Trip Advisor purchase, I was senior designer on the mobile web redesign team. The previous design tried to do everything on a single page. I created distinct flows for Attractions, Things to Do, Recommendations, Videos, Ratings, and settings.
Each screen was spaced out, and text was enlarged.
Each screen had clear choices for the user to be informed, take an action, or exit.
iOS App UI - Checkout
After the mobile redesign, the iOS app needed updating - particularly during checkout. The previous version was confusing for adding promo codes - a popular way Viator merchants increased conversion. Labels were added to all field components. After the redesign, abandoned carts went down 18%.
Promotional pieces for the new brand
After the mobile and app updates, I designed editorial and promotional materials that were mailed and emailed to all end users and platform partners. After 6 months of steady monthly and bi-monthly releases of editorial and promotional materials, app downloads increased by 36% and platform signups increased by 32%.
